International Orienteering Federation (IOF)
International orienteering Federation (IOF) was established in Copenhagen, Denmark on 21st May 1961. She is the governing body of orienteering in the world. She organise many world championships. Orienteering was recognised an Olympic sport by the International Olympic Committee in 1977.
Every year, International Orienteering Federation organise the World Orienteering Championship, Junior World Orienteering Championship, World Cup, World Ranking Events etc. Orienteering is one of the sports in the World Games, World Master Games, FISU World University Championship, CISM World Military Orienteering Championship, CISM Winter Military World Games, World Deaflympics Games.

Orienteering Association of Hong Kong (OAHK)
Orienteering Association of Hong Kong (OAHK) was established in 1981. It was founded by Hong Kong Orienteering Club, British Army Orienteering Club in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Police Orienteering Club and a few other orienteering organisation. OAHK became a member of the International Orienteering Federation in 1982 and eligible to participate in world championship. In 1984 Asia Pacific Orienteering Championship held in New Zealand, Hong Kong athletes won the Men H35B class and 3rd runners-up of Women D21B class. Hong Kong became a strong orienteering team in Asia.
OAHK provides regular training for junior squad and senior squad, and select Hong Kong Team to take part in All China Championship, Asian Championship, World Championship and Junior World Championship etc..
She also organise important competitions includes: Annual Championships, Ranking League, Colour-Coded Courses, Youth Championship, Kid Park O Championship, Relay Competition as well as Trail Orienteering Championship etc..
More and more cooperation between OAHK and Orienteering Association of China in nowadays, from 2009, they organise a major competition between China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau to promote orienteering development and exchange experience among four places.
OAHK has renamed her Chinese organisation name on 24 June 2012.

Orienteering in Asian Region
There are six regions in the regional structure of International Orienteering federation (IOF) , they are Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America. In 2015, there are 16 member federations in Asian Region of IOF. Orienteering Association of Hong Kong is one of the member. In every two years, member federation organise the Asian Orienteering Championship (AsOC). The first AsOC was held in conjunction with the last Asia Pacific Orienteering Championship (APOC) in Seoul of Korea in 2008. After that year, AsOC substitute the Asia Pacific Orienteering Championship which had been organised for 15 times since 1980. Hong Kong organised the APOC in 1986, 1996 and 2006. Hong Kong organized the 1st Asian Junior & Youth Orienteering Championship in December 2015.
China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong are countries and regions in Asian Region which are well developed in orienteering. Macau also established an orienteering Association. In recent years, OAHK became the coordination centre of orienteering development in Asian Region. Currently, orienteering development in China is the most fastest countries in the world. It provides more orienteering events and venue for orienteering enthusiastic from Hong Kong. China, Japan and Korea organise competitions regularly attracts many orienteers who enjoy orienteering and travel.
